In 1836, the Georgia General Assembly voted to build a railroad to the Midwest, and the city of "Terminus" was founded. The phoenix is its symbol, as Atlanta was the only US city to be destroyed by an act of war. Home of both Coca-Cola & CNN, the Peachtree Road Race & "Gone With the Wind."
